Hi,
I’m Robyn!
I write stories about people I admire, and slices of life that bring me joy. My childhood was spent with my nose in a book, being swept up in the antics of my favorite character’s. Ramona, Nancy Drew, and the Babysitter’s Club were always on hand!
So it’s no coincidence that my first job was an elementary reading and writing teacher. I got to share my passion of reading with children – for a living! Now, as a writer, and a parent of two young children, I get to bond with my own kids over books. And the best part? They help me turn their adventures and interests into lyrical texts that can be enjoyed with others – readers like you!
My favorite things-
1. The color turquoise.
2. Camping (and writing) in our 1963 Shasta named Birdie.
3. Having multiple books on my nightstand at one time: picture books, middle grade, adult fiction and nonfiction.
4. Coffee – lots of coffee!
5. Floating on a raft in a pool, a river, or the lake.
6. Daily naps – I’ve even mastered the 10-minute nap.
7. Pens, you can never have too many.
8. Sending (and receiving) snail mail.
9. The sound of rain. (Along with #3-a good book and #4-coffee.)
10. Evenings around a campfire with my family – the perfect end to a day.

Celebrating 10 yrs of The Writing Barn
Robyn McGrath writes fiction and nonfiction picture books for children. When she is not writing she works as a Play Therapist helping children and parents regulate BIG emotions.
